Rescued Songs

In this new release, Rescued Songs, Vanda’s personal memories intersect with the traditions of her homeland and with the present sounds, particularly alternative rock, inspired heavily by the music of Tori Amos. Vanda took on the challenge of rescuing some of her oldest songs by producing them and thus bringing them to life on this nostalgia driven album rooted in her Slavic heritage. Themes of love, ghosts, eroticism, and introspection run throughout a body of work that oscillates without rodeos between reality and fiction. The immensity that Vanda encounters in Argentina—in its geography, its culture, and the warmth of its people—joins the longings she carries from Eastern Europe, creating a territory of her own between two worlds. There is also a dreamlike universe of fantasy and suspense, reminiscent of the worlds found in medieval books, where imagination opens the way towards a better future. The tracks “Again” and “Hello, Stranger” also tell a story visually, with music videos directed by filmmaker Fabián Hernández.
